How Creatives are Grouped in DatAds

See how DatAds groups ads by Creative ID, when creatives stay separate, and how to adjust your grouping for better insights.

The Group by Creative feature allows you to see the aggregated performance of a single visual asset across multiple ads. This works by tracking the unique Creative ID assigned by the ad platform.

✅ What gets grouped?

Ads are automatically combined into a single row when they share the same Creative ID.

This applies even if:

  • You duplicate an ad: Duplicated ads keep the same Creative ID.

  • You change the copy: Updating the headline, primary text, or landing page does not create a new Creative ID.

  • You use different Facebook Pages: The same creative used across multiple pages within the same account will still be grouped together.

In short, as long as the underlying Creative ID remains the same, the ads will be grouped.

❌ What stays separate?

Ads are treated as separate entries when they do not share the same Creative ID.

This happens if:

  • You manually re-upload the file: Uploading the same image or video again in Ads Manager creates a new Creative ID.

  • You use different ad accounts: Creative IDs are account-specific and cannot be grouped across accounts.

Flexibility in Your View

While Group by Creative is ideal for creative-focused analysis, you can easily switch to other grouping options depending on your goal.

You can group your data by:

  • Ad Name

  • Ad Set Name

  • Campaign Name

  • Ad Account

  • and more

This allows you to move seamlessly between a creative-level view and a structural campaign view, depending on what you want to analyze.
